Today, the Harborne ladies took to the pitch to play their first post lockdown 3.0 match. It was just as exciting as the post lockdown 1.0 and post lockdown 2.0 matches. The thrilling event featured Harborne vs Harborne (AKA Greens vs Whites). Players from all five ladies' teams, new faces, and some returning players comprised of the evenly split teams. While the white team had the majority of possession and played some lovely passing moves, the green team were more clinical, and with the pace of players like Harriet, Jess, Issy, and Fidelis making some of us look like we were running in treacle, they were a constant threat on the counterattack. It was a good standard of hockey, played in a well spirited manner - even with Saskia managing to inadvertently take a couple of players out! The white team took the lead before the goals yo-yoed back and fourth with no team ever going more than one goal ahead. After four 20 minute quarters the teams still couldn't be separated so we called it quits (mainly because it was the end of our allocated pitch slot) and it ended in a very fair 3-3 draw! Big thanks to Dave for his excellent umpiring. Well played ladies - let's hope we aren't feeling too sore tomorrow!
